Windmill in Gonies
At the top of Gonies village, over the roofs of the houses, pops out the beautiful windmill of the village. It is a building with long history which remains baronial and untouchable by time. It was built in 1904 and functioned from the beginning of spring until the beginning of automn because afterwards the rains began which destroyed the cloths and made difficult the work of “millers”. In this mill they mainly milled the barley and the wheat of millers’ relatives and flour was produced.
This traditional windmill worked for approximately 70 years until the technological progress created new methods of flour production, so its operation stopped.
