BIOGRAPHY
Ioannis Klinakis was born in 1938 in the village Marathos of Malevizi. Six years later, on August 21, 1944, his father, along with sixteen other people from Marathos, were executed by German troops. So in short, like all children, he experienced the brutality of the occupation and the uncertainty of the postwar years. He worked for many years as a farmer and laborer in quarry and public works. In 1964 he moved with his family in Athens, where he worked as a bricklayer while he developed significant union activity until 1979. In 1969 he worked for the first time in sculpture. Gradually, he was devoted in sculpture, reducing working as a bricklayer. Initially he worked for sculptor Memas Kalogeratos at the foundry.
